BrightRidge has an opening for a Network Engineer I.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing engineering support of the various telecommunication products utilized by BrightRidge services. Works with Video/Data/Voice networks for BrightRidge and in conjunction with the various BrightRidge departments, vendors, consultants, and other network engineers to support the technical operation of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist Network Engineers in maintaining technical operation of the Voice, Data and Video network.
- Install and configure network elements.
- Perform tier I/II troubleshooting of network problems
- Perform tier II/III troubleshooting of customer escalations
- Maintain documentation of the network.
- Work with vendors to resolve service issues, specify equipment and place orders.
- Coordinates with customers to integrate services.
- Reviews and interprets network alarms.
- Identifies and plans action to properly clear network alarms.
- Performs software upgrades to network elements.
- Coordinates with vendor service personnel on projects and maintenance.
- Coordinate with installation personnel on field support.
- Meets with customers as required for sales support.
- Trains operations personnel on network monitoring and maintenance.
- Documents all projects and changes per company guidelines.
- Coordinates with vendors on equipment purchases, requests, equipment returns and repairs.
- Creates purchase requests for equipment and services.
- Provides technical support to internal departments for special projects.
- Ability to maintain reliable, predictable, and reasonable attendance.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license from state of residence.
- Must be available for after hours work (subject to call outs and on-call rotation to include holidays, nights and weekends) which would include working fair share of all necessary overtime.
- Work with various departments on special projects.
- Maintain vehicles assigned to Department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must possess general knowledge of core electronics and headend functions and operations.
- Must maintain knowledge of network protocols, maintenance, tools and equipment.
- Must possess advanced computer skills and related software applications.
- Must be skilled in installing and configuring network services.
- Must possess working knowledge of, OSI layer 2/3/4 data networking, Ethernet switching, network routing, structured wiring, LAN/WAN network design and Telephony services (VoIP).
- Must possess the ability to troubleshoot problems with data and telephony networks.
- Must possess excellent communication and customer relations skills both verbal and written.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires constant telephone and computer use which entails sitting, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, fine manipulation, vision, talking, hearing and arm/hand use for machine control operation. Must be able to lift 80 – 100 lbs. of equipment and climb ladders to reach cable trays.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Majority of duties are performed indoors in a climate-controlled office environment. May require some regional travel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A.S. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, or related field. B.S Degree a plus.
- Previous network engineering experience or related technical background is preferred.
- Experience in the fields of data, cable TV and class 5 telephony a plus.
- A minimum of 1 year experience in voice/data communication service.
