Responsibilities and Duties
Job Summary
The Security Officer is responsible for the security and safety of all residents, staff, and employees. Security Officers monitor all emergency and life safety systems. Security also provides help and contacts for after-hours for Maintenance and other departments.
Essential Job Specific Duties/Responsibilities
- Checks log book for activities, and unlocks appropriate doors, etc. Orders sick trays as needed.
- Directs traffic when necessary; monitors parking lots and roads and checks to ensure lights are working.
- Monitors flow of people and enforces visitor sign-in policy.
- Maintains building safety and security.
- Monitors and responds to fire alarm system, makes proper announcements, and contacts fire department.
- Monitors nurse calls and doors alarms.
- Locks and unlocks building correctly.
- Patrols building and grounds according to procedure.
- Greets visitors and guests in person and on telephone.
- Greets visitors, has them sign in, and gives directions.
- Monitors radio traffic and people finder call system.
- Makes 911 calls to squad and other emergencies as needed.
- Performs miscellaneous duties for other departments.
- Assists with plunging or augering toilets.
- Assists with water shut down as needed.
- Provides clerical support for security and other departments.
- Checks out after-hours maintenance requests before calling in maintenance personnel.
- Responds to Independent residents’ emergencies, and fills out incident reports.
- Writes incident reports.
- Satisfies all educational in-service requirements mandated by CHI Living Communities, the department, external accrediting, and regulatory agencies.
- Attends all mandatory in-service programs.
- Adheres to facility policies and procedures.
In addition to the essential job specific duties listed above, the Security Officer shall be required to perform all duties (essential and non-essential) in a manner consistent with the mission statement and core values (reverence, integrity, compassion, excellence) of CHI Living Communities and will be evaluated on such basis. Furthermore, every employee must abide by all campus, departmental, and safety policies, rules, and regulations.
CHI Living Communities has the right to change the job specific duties and specifications required for the position of Security Officer from time to time without prior notice.
Job Requirements
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Experience preferred, but not required, for this position.
Job Type: PRN, on-call as needed
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen (including marijuana)
