Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Network Administrator is primarily responsible for the upkeep and overall operational status of critical Tribal network and communication systems.
- Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting the internal computer network, including planning and other activities reserved for the most complex issues.
- Provide technical administration and expertise in an environment consisting of mixed NOS’s (Windows and Linux), various servers and roles: Windows Server 2003—2019, Active Directory Infrastructure, Microsoft Exchange Server, VMware and Microsoft
- Hyper-V, Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory Group Policies, DFS, VPN, System Center 2012, Windows 7 ̶ 10 and domain account administration, DNS, DHCP, TCP-IP.
- Manage Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010/2016 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM environments.
- Office 2010, 2013 and 2016 technical experience.
- Configure and manage all Cisco equipment: routers, switches, wireless bridges, firewalls; Cisco Unified Messaging and Call Manager system, NAS, Dell Storage devices.
- Manage fault tolerance & Symantec back-up systems.
- Plan & manage shared resources.
- Maintain network security.
- Troubleshoots and solves the most complex network connectivity problems, including monitoring the network and servers for problems, diagnosing problems, and taking the appropriate corrective measures to ensure an expedient resolution.
- Monitor network performance data and submit recommendations for optimization to the IT Director.
- Maintain technical documentation of the tribal network configuration (ie: network diagrams, wiring diagrams, etc.).
- Maintain records and technical documentation for essential hardware and software equipment (including licensing).
- Perform fault diagnosis, troubleshoot, and correct problems that occur within operational databases.
- Using available the Tribe’s resources, conducts solution testing to ensure that databases integrate smoothly into the current operational environment.
- Performs analysis of existing processes and procedures and makes recommendations when changes are required. Recommends system enhancements to maximize application efficiency.
- Responsible for providing trend analysis information to the I.T. Manager to allow informed decisions regarding resource management.
- Performs user support when a user is having a problem with database operation or performance.
- Responds to after-hours database problems.
- Notifies the Tribe’s I.T. Manager in the event of an outage, virus, or major system failure that could affect users.
- Attends IT meetings.
- Ability to create DTS packages with custom transformations.
- Provide help desk/telephone support to end-users.
- Provide technical assistance for hardware and software purchases.
- Provide network and application training to end-users and trainees.
- Assist the IT Director with telecommunications issues and reporting.
- Assist the IT Director in developing short & long-range goals & objectives.
- Maintain professional certifications as required.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
