Testing Proctor - Accessibility Services (Part-time/Temporary)
Position Core Competencies
- Demonstrate understanding of the comprehensive community college philosophy and the role of Accessibility Services in strategic Student Success
- Provide assistance in the development of a professional environment where students can receive support in a confidential setting, gauge academic readiness, and/or take academic and certification tests
- Maintain a quality testing environment and adhere to testing best practices that are conducive for student success and that ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) rules and regulations; ability to use assistive computer-based technology and software applications
General Employee Responsibilities
- Comply with local, state, and federal guidelines and laws
- Comply with Northeast State Community College and Tennessee Board of Regents policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Comply with SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) Principles of Accreditation, policies, and guidelines
- Promote and maintain College and TBR Mission, Vision, and Values
- Promote and comply with Northeast State Community College SAFE Campus programs
- Maintain digital calendar and archive annually on June 30. Provide supervisor with access to calendar and an archived copy of calendar for annual performance review.
- Seek efficiencies and continuous improvement in both position and personal growth
- Lead/promote College and TBR initiatives as they relate to this office
- In all duties assigned, show a commitment to quality, customer service, and Northeast State Community College: to include students, College employees, and the community served by Northeast State. Be an active and contributing part of the Northeast State Team.
- Follow professional code of conduct and ethics; maintain professional dress in compliance with expectations of the position

- Complete other assignments as directed by supervisor/President
- Utilize effective people skills in working with internal and external customers
Specific Role and Responsibilities
- Update and maintain digital records management system
- Monitor students with disabilities when utilizing assistive technology for assignments and tests
- Troubleshoot technical issues in coordination with Information Technology - Client Services
- Proctor testing for students with disabilities who need low-distraction or extended time testing
- Serve as a reader or scribe for students with disabilities for tests or assignments
- Assist students as needed with accessing campus and/or community resources
- Log student contacts in the Accessibility Services database
- Inform Accessibility Services staff of student issues or concerns
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and testing materials
- Assist with Accessibility, Counseling, and Testing Services initiatives as needed
Requirements of the Position
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education – Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution required; applicants with associate degrees in progress will be considered as long as degree completion occurs within six months of position start date
- Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Access; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems; ability to learn and operate new technologies
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with mobile technology
- History of working independently on moderately difficult to complex task with success
- Experience – Knowledge of computer-based assistive technologies preferred; experience working with individuals who have psychological and/or physical disabilities preferred; knowledge of ADA rules and regulations preferred
Abilities:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely through the effective use of English
- Knowledge and use of organizational and management skills
Additional Notes
- Some evening and weekend hours may be required
- Travel required (campus sites and testing locations)
- Perform responsibilities in accessibility and testing center work environments
Compensation: $12 per hour; not to exceed 20 hours per week
