JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

SCPSA is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for three positions as: CREW MEMBER These are full-time positions in our Construction, Maintenance, and Metering Department. The official job classifications will be Mechanic Trainee/Pay Band 1, Assistant Mechanic/Pay Band 2, or Mechanic/ Pay Band 3, depending on successful candidate's experience and qualifications. This position performs both semi-skilled and manual labor in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the SCPSA's water and sewer infrastructure. It performs responsible beginner, intermediate, or advanced level mechanical and electrical repairs and installation and replacement of equipment and systems, including water distribution piping and sewage collection pipe and force mains. It also performs preventive maintenance, pump overhaul and repair, carpentry, plumbing, troubleshooting electrical problems, welding, heavy equipment operation, and water meter reading, maintenance, and replacement. The ability to perform physical labor and to learn the above tasks is required. Minimum 5 years' experience doing water and sewer pipeline construction is preferred. Qualified applicants must possess as a minimum a high school diploma, Virginia GED certificate or equivalent, or vocational school certificate/diploma. Qualified applicants must also possess a valid Virginia Driver's License with a Class A endorsement or equivalent. Applicants must submit a completed official SCPSA application.
