The Sullivan County Purchasing Department, Blountville, Tennessee is accepting applications for a full-time Buyer in the Purchasing Department. The employee will perform intermediate skilled clerical and technical work assisting with procurement of supplies, materials, and services. The responsibilities shall consist of technical purchasing activities including contacting and communicating with vendors to obtain competitive prices for products and services requisitioned by various county departments, maintenance of records relative to contracts, purchase orders, bids, and requisitions. General working knowledge of purchasing procedures as established under Tennessee Code Annotated governing procurement.
Requirements for Education and Experience: completion of high school or GED required, supplemental college level work and/or public purchasing courses/seminars and experience in purchasing preferred; relevant work experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be taken into consideration.
