Acts as a subject matter expert regarding workers compensation benefits and assists patients with navigation of BWC process, payments on physician and hospital billing. Acquires approval for DME equipment. Provides assistance for Orthopaedic Surgery patients guiding them in identification/navigation of services and resources available within UHHS and in the community for workers comp injuries. Develops effective working relationships with UH colleagues, physicians, APPs, other service providers. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patient, customers. Provides competent, efficient and caring services to Orthopaedic Surgery patients. Coordinates interdisciplinary functions of medical and ancillary services to meet needs of Orthopaedic Surgery patients. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Demonstrates commitment to the mission and values of UH. Demonstrated knowledge of Bureau of Workers Compensation claims and processes. Preferred experience: Previous experience with insurance verification and explanation of services. Prefer previous financial counseling or application of commercial or government insurance products. Experience with Ohio Bureau of Worker Compensation. Specialist in the subject of workers compensation injuries.
