Assistant Director of Residence Life

The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for one Assistant Director of Residence Life (ADRL). The ADRL is a 12=month live-on position that reports to the Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Residence Life and is a member of the Student Affairs team. The successful candidate will be an individual who is energetic, dedicated, progressive and student centered.

The ADRL will also oversee the development, implementation of the Living and Learning Community (LLC) Program on campus in conjunction with the Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Residence Life. The ADRL also provides leadership to one of 2 residential communities on campus, which includes the supervision of 10-15 Resident Advisors (RAs) who are student paraprofessional employees and approximately 250 residents.

The ADRL will also assist with RA staff recruitment, selection, and training development; provide support to RAs with conflict mediation and professional development; assessing RA job performances; coordinating RA programming; assisting with facilities management and monthly fire drills; coordinating monthly health and safety inspections; participating in the Dean of Students area on-call rotation; and assisting with the summer Housing program to include summer school and the College's Conferences and Events program. In addition, the ADRL will serve as advisor to The Residence Hall Association on campus. During the summer, the ADRL will also provide assistance to the college Summer Conferencing Program.

The salary for this position is $35,568 with a state benefits package, a two-bedroom apartment, and a full college meal plan.
