YANCEY COUNTY is seeking a qualified individual for the following position:

TITLE: Motor Vehicle Registration Specialist Full-Time Position

DESCRIPTION: Performs difficult customer service and paraprofessional fiscal work in support of the DMV tag and title work. Employees in this class are responsible for serving the public in the processing of vehicle registrations and license tags. Work involves public contact functions and utilization of specialized software from the department of motor vehicles. Considerable detailed knowledge of North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles policies and state laws regarding a wide variety of detailed vehicle registration and licensing procedures, as well as tact and courtesy are required in these public contact functions. Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated through conferences, by accuracy and timeliness of customer service records and bills, and thoroughness of assigned responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school, supplemented by courses in business or accounting, and experience in a billing and/or collections operation involving multiple step tasks or DMV licensing and titling procedures; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to obtain Notary Public prior to completion of probationary period. Ability to successfully complete DMV Branch Agent course successfully prior to completion of probationary period.

LOCATION: Primary duty station for the position is located in Burnsville, N.C.

SALARY: Pay Scale is Grade 62.
